Farm Receives Award Thursday, March 26, 2009
Next Post »

2009 started off wonderfully with the Farm being honored with an Award from EcoMaine for our efforts in plant pot recycling and sustainable farming methods. Steeplebush farm has, since our beginning, encouraged customer to return their plant pots and trays for re-use by the Farm.  Re-using pots reduces plastic consumption and helps me keep costs down for you, the customer! When I do need to purchase pots, I am careful to order from companies whose new pots are made with recycled materials. Our organic methods and "teaching style" of salesmanship were also applauded. Visitors are always encouraged to tour the farm & gardens and ask questions. I love to see you get excited about having a garden!! Thank you EcoMaine!

This Spring, be sure to check out our extended selections of heirloom tomatoes, herbs, flowers and peppers......

Hi Lauriejane, Madeleine Siegler is my mother and I am wondering if Madeline's Own Potpourri is named for her. This August it will be 16 years since her passing, and we all still miss her very much. Someone stopped at my Dad's house in Readfield and left him some of the potpourri - of course he was very touched. It smells so much like "Ray's Favorite", which is also my favorite. Your herb gardens look fabulous and I hope to visit them on our next trip to Maine, which may be this fall to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday.

Warm regards, AnneMarie Johnson, Tucson, Arizona

Madeleine Siegler was the person that was my original contact for herbs. I have a signed book of hers. A group of us ladies would go up to Readfield to tour her garden and purchase plants, etc. I admired her very much. She is greatly missed.
My garden, in my retirement, is over flowing and still has many of the orignial plants from Madeleine.
You should be very proud that she was your mom.
